Troubadour Presents Local Metal!
Sunday, October 2, 2011 There's got to be an interesting backstory to this show. A metal show at the Troubadour without a touring headliner? All local bands?? I don't recall a similar show this millennia. When you consider all the bad shit that has happened venue-wise in this town over the last few years, it's nice to announce a good development for a change. We can't get too excited. This could be just a one-off. IT'S CASUAL's Eddie Solis may have put on that smile and overwhelmed them with a charm offensive. But however it happened, all these bands got in the door of a room that sounds damn good loud. And if we don't show up in numbers, don't expect it to happen again.

this is awesome. i was fortunate enough to participate in such a show at the troubadour something like ten long years ago with my band sanctus (alongside a handful of other local metal bands). if i remember correctly, the show was free and was on a sunday night. unfortunately, the turnout was very thin. each band brought in their own fans (and friends and family) but those people didnt seem to stick around for the other bands (we played last). despite the severe infrequency of these showcases at the troubadour, its nice to see that they are still happening.
