This Weekend is Vacation

Saturday is Record Store Day and the place to be is Vacation Vinyl.  You should be there because it is our store.  Owned by guys who live metal, and operated by Pete Majors, a gentleman who embodies the spirit this blog strives for.  Unsurpisingly, he has lined up a outstanding slate of DJs to spin vinyl for you on Saturday:

11 - 12:00 pm Steven Strong (CULT of the HORNS)

And this endorsement is no slight of Amoeba, Origami or any other record store in this town.  Competition is a necessity.  When is the last time you wanted to go to an in-store at Amoeba?  All I'm saying is check Vacation first, then move on.  Speaking of in-stores, I mentioned this event a couple of days ago, but it bears repeating.  AUTHOR & PUNISHER and his drone machines must be seen tomorrow evening at 7 PM:

And while our EARTH/WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM ticket contest is still to come, you can guarantee yourself a ticket by purchasing a copy of EARTH's Radio Live 2007-2008 LP or WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM's Malevolent Grain 12" at Vacation.  Fuck it, we'll start ours now.  Some of you are bound to to have both of those already.  And those bands really need no introduction.  EARTH is in a place right now nobody has been before.  Dylan Carlson is a pioneer.  If you want to be in the running for one of the pairs, email us at thecityofdevils@gmail.com  by noon on Monday.  I'd say they will be randomly awarded but the truth is people that haven't won recently will have an advantage.
