Heed the Power of the Blind Guardian

Germany's BLIND GUARDIAN is coming to town next week for a highly anticipated show by the German power metal legends.  Setlists from the US tour abound.  And if you have not seen them, these guys are not fucking around:

 

And as usual when a band of 25 years comes across the pond, tickets aren't so cheap.  But if you get them from us, they are absolutely free.  All it takes is to provide us with a little content that we can use to help preview the show.  So say what you want about BLIND GUARDIAN and/or the openers, and if we like it enough, we'll post it right here and send you and a friend on to the Fonda.   Please email your entries to thecityofdevils@gmail.com with your full name, and we will inform all of the winners by Tuesday at noon.  Al of you that are unwilling to play can buy tickets from our good friends at Church of the 8th Day by clicking on the flyer.

Here's some of your thoughts about tonight's show.  We're guilty of prematurely giving away the tickets because we were out before we received the last comment, and it's clearly a winner.  

"Holy Grail are the next great metal band that years from now, we'll be telling our children we were lucky enough to see back in the days before they went platinum... metal at it's finest!!!"

"Blind Guardian have released an album so epic and triumphant it sits alongside Nightfall, Imaginations, and A Night at the Opera quite comfortably with songs Sacred Worlds and Control of the Divine.  At the Edge of Time keeps up the pace with earlier releases as well, though.  Ride into Obsession and A Voice in the Dark are reminiscent of the Follow the Blind, Somewhere Far Beyond, and Tales from the Twilight World era.  All around, At the Edge of Time is a solid concrete album that shows that Blind Guardian have not come close to losing their touch at musical writing.  Not only that, the incorporation of a full orchestra shows Blind Guardian utilizing their creativity at a whole new level.  The layering and harmonic progressions on At the Edge of Time are so impressively astute that countless listens are guaranteed.  At the Edge of Time live will definitely be a highlight of 2010 and Blind Guardian live is always as promised, utmost audible satisfaction."

Seven Kingdoms - a typical sounding power metal band with a female singer.  They got their name out of a dungeons and dragons game I figure cuz i had to filter through a bunch of cheat codes to read anything about them.  Word is they are paying out to play on the tour and rented themselves a tour bus.  Funnier than renting a tour bus to go on your first tour that you are paying to be on is that they brought their whole families.  14 person crew for a 5 man band.  I think grandma is the guitar tech."
