All Hallows Eve
Wednesday, October 27, 2010 Tee Pee is a label run by one guy out of New York with a roster that is loaded with bands from the left coast. If you are a regular reader of this blog, you know we like quite a few of them. In fact, we strongly endorse every Tee Pee band playing at this week's All Hallows Eve, two nights of heaviness presented by the label and Spaceland, the venue hosting this good time. But in a refreshingly "Stay Classy" move, the headliners for both nights are on LA-based labels, Southern Lord and Hydra Head. That's the kind of community spirit that inspires us to keep blogging away.
And don't forget about the costumes. Thursday night is not really a contest because everyone that participates is a winner. You come dressed in Night of the Living Deadish attire, you get a discount. The real competition is on Friday, when the winner of the Best Misfit, Lemmy or Alice Cooper contest will win a pair of passes to all four MELVINS shows that will go down in January. If seeing that band in the intimacy of Spaceland is alone not enough turn you on, daydream about the guest performers that will join them each week. Now are you good?
Speaking of contests, we've got our own. Three pairs of tickets are on the line for both Thursday and Friday nights. To be in the running, enter by tomorrow at noon with your full name and preferred night by contacting us here or emailing thecityofdevils@gmail.com.

Thanks to Invisible Oranges for reminding us to tell you that BLACK MATH HORSEMAN will not be performing on Thursday because one of the member's suffered an injury. Although a full recovery is expected, it will not happen by tomorrow. At our suggestion, filling in will be the underappreciated--at least around these parts--FATSO JETSON, led by Mario Lalli (who mentored some guys named Joshua Homme and Brant Bjork in their early desert years). The replacement is appropriate. Both bands have had their share of bad luck this year with gigs. BLACK MATH HORSEMAN missed out on their entire European tour because of the volcano. And FATSO JETSON had to cancel a Spaceland show with BLACK MATH HORSEMAN a month later because of illness, and another at the same spot in August when headliner NICK OLIVERI bailed on the gig. Let's hope their third attempt is a charm, and both bands head into the great month of November with any curses fully lifted.

Just learned that Friday night Spaceland will be selling a small number of tickets for the MELVINS shows in January. These are sure to sell out so save yourself from disappointment and ticket fees by buying now. We also have one last pair to give away for the this Friday's show. First to hit us up wins.

I heard that Black Math Horseman dropped off the bill due to an injury within the band :( I was looking forward to seeing them!
You are correct, Mr. Oranges. Sometimes you forget the important stuff when you squeeze in a post on your lunch break. The post has been updated with the correct info. Thank you!
Thought Imaad was replaced by Lantvrn also.
Also correct - I got sent an old version of the flyer
Don't forget when BMH and Ancestors both got shut down at the Ancestors' album release show awhile back and only Astra got to play. Hope Ian gets better soon.
Also, somebody bring Astra up here from SD again, love those guys.
Yes, please, Astra is needed.......
La Otracina as well.
We'd love to see both of those bands too! Check out Carlton Melton too. Those guys are looking for a gig here in January and we're doing what we can to make that happen.
