New Ancestors Song
Monday, August 31, 2009 Following Brooklyn Vegan's lead, Stereogum is streaming a new song off ANCESTORS' yet-to-be released album, Of Sound Mind. I've had a copy of the records for a few weeks now and I must admit I was not prepared for what I heard. This one took repeated listens to absorb, and the job is far from complete. That's not a bad thing at all. Expectations need to be fucked with. This time around the progressive elements are at the forefront, and the keyboard instruments play a huge factor. Take a listen to "Bounty of Age" here. No local performances are scheduled, as far as we know.

So a commenter (Justin) just let us know to expect a record release party from ANCESTORS in October. I don't know if this Justin is the Justin Maranga of ANCESTORS, but LA Weekly just did a feature on him, his other band NIGHT HORSE, and Tee Pee Records, the label that puts out both bands' records. NIGHT HORSE plays the Bootleg Theater on September 19th with NYC's VIETNAM and Seattle's EMERALDS (also in town next Monday at the Relax Bar). NIGHT HORSE was without Mr. Maranga at the same venue in July. We expect that he will prove us right for missing him.
