The LA Weekly Endorses Metal Mondays
Wednesday, July 29, 2009 The turnout at Footsies last night was disappointing. I heard an excuse that rent paymets are due, but the Gold Room was overflowing this evening. This guy at the LA Weekly has figured out something special is going on:
Metalheads have it tough. There are few places in L.A. to sip beers at a bar and listen to the awesome aural assault of double bass drums stabbing your earholes. At best you'll hear Motorhead (in Echo Park) or at worst, Disturbed (very prevalent in West L.A.), but never any Nordic Viking Metal nor New Jersey grindcore. Luckily, Metal Mondays at Footsies on N. Figueroa in Cypress Park offers a safe haven for metal enthusiasts. Expect Gothenberg's greatest hits, choice cuts of goregrind and guest DJs from metal bands and labels. No Crabcore allowed.
Why can't you? If not for me, do it for Laurel, the bartender. She's the queen. See you next week.

WTF do you want to abuse your ears with even acceptable overloud prerecorded music like that? Conversation crutch? Save yourself for live action (and plan a decent meal).
It's all about the ladies. And I never get sick of seeing the uninitiated get their first exposure to King Diamond. As for food, you're telling me that El Atacor #11 doesn't qualify as decent?
That actually does sound like a decent late-night meal, but my taste buds would be better primed by a show (or a trip to Home Depot) than by DJs and eye candy.
