Cradle of Filth/Satyricon Ticket Giveaway
Saturday, February 7, 2009 On Wednesday, Greek death metal legends Septic Flesh and Norwegian black metal legends Satyricon join Cradle of Filth at the Henry Fonda Theater in Hollywood. The good people at Goldenvoice have kindly provided us tickets to give away. They are showing faith in this site so we ask that only people that are committed to going participate. We hope that we can do these giveaways on a regular basis, so represent us well. If you want a pair, contact us here. Telling us why you want to go will help your cause. We may also give some away this Monday at Footsies.

I only stuck around for the openers but I must give the Cradle of Filth fans credit for showing up early and being supportive of the quick sets by Septic Flesh and Satyricon. Septic Flesh's entrance was marred by a malfunctioning and unnecessary intro track, but once they got down to it, they called for the devil horns and the crowd responded. They mostly played songs from their fantastic new album, Communion, and although I would have preferred a keyboardist over the backing tracks that tried to make up for the absence of an orchestra, it was a good time. Satyricon drew largely from the last three albums, probably much to the dismay of their diehard fans. But the reality is that Satyr is determined to increase the band's mass appeal, no matter what we say, and I must admit the effort he put forth as a front man was impressive. I could have done without the "Die...by my hand" singalong because it's just wrong, but he threw us a bone at the end - Mother North - that evoked the death metal prowess that got them here.
