Update on Ancestors Record Release Party
Monday, October 12, 2009 One of my regrets about heading to the Far East was missing Saturday night's warehouse show with labelmates ANCESTORS and BLACK MATH HORSEMAN that was to celebrate the release of the former's outstanding new album, In Sound Mind. Apparently the police made sure the party didn't go off as planned. I don't know the details at this point, but according to BLACK MATH HORSEMAN, the event may be rescheduled soon:
We just wanted to thank everyone who came out last night.
We sincerely apologize for anyone who came down and did not get to see any music due to the cops shutting the show down after Astra's set.
However, WE ARE GOING TO RESCHEDULE (tentatively the 24th of this month). Ancestors and Black Math Horseman will not be stopped!

Yeah, that was a huge bummer and I have to figure it's 99% on the club owner's shoulders for not having the clearance to play. The rumor was the landlord called the cops! But Astra was a great - a real surprise since I had never heard any of their stuff, which echoes King Crimson, ELP and Yes a bit. But I was so ready to stare longingly at Sera's long legs in those black boots...., oops, I meant listen to BMH and Ancestors.
Good news about the rescheduling. That club on 24th has a way to go though, two disappointments in a row for me. One more could be the strikeout.
