Warbringer Returns to the Studio

From metalexpressradio .com

The boys from Ventura have announced they will begin recording their second album at Sharkbite Studios (Machine Head, High On Fire) in Oakland next month January 19th with Exodus guitarist Gary Holt taking on production responsibilities.  This will be the first recording with new drummer, Nic Ritter.  Mr. Holt is apparently pumped up for the experience:

I am stoked to be producing the latest Warbringer record.
I had a chance to hang out at rehearsal and listen to the new songs and their latest stuff is crushing! People will not be disappointed, that's a fact! The young guns are definitely stepping it up a notch or ten and it promises to be intense!

Before entering the studio, Warbringer will be playing four shows in California, including one at The Whisky in Hollywood, and then embarking on a North Tour tour with Exodus and Kreator this Spring.

January 14 The Whisky – Hollywood, CA
January 16 The Jumping Turtle – San Marcos, CA
January 17 Chain Reaction – Anaheim, CA
January 18 Gilman Street – Berkeley, CA

I checked these guys out earlier this year at the Knitting Factory.  I felt like I was back in 1988, surrounded by teenagers that loved thrash and confused girls that were trying to convince themselves these longhairs were "hot."  Warbringer is a long way from the Jonas Bros.  But as I listened to them perform tracks from their outstanding debut, War Without End, I realized that this country has been at war throughout their entire adolescence.  The good news is that the emergence of thrash in the 80s coincided with the end of the Cold War.  Indeed, when I had the opportunity to go behind the Iron Curtain at that time, all the kids wanted were my Maiden and Metallica tapes and t-shirts.   Maybe the success of these boys is a harbinger of good things to come.
